Mr Vassilios Dimoulas, Technology & Innovation Director SEEBA Zone represented Bureau Veritas at the workshop organized by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and insular policy on the 29th of March 2024 at Evgenideion Foundation.
The workshop presented the draft of a new legal framework for safe electrification of ships, covering both shore connection of passenger, cruise ships and containers and charging of battery equipped ships.
During the event class societies were invited to perform technical presentations on the subjects. Bureau Veritas presented on safety aspects of high voltage shore connection, use of fuel cells and batteries, the work already performed by Bureau Veritas on these subjects and expected challenges.
Bureau Veritas would be pleased to review the draft text of this regulation and offer constructive comments, sharing the experience gained in many similar projects worldwide.
